COLLECTIVE AND UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS
SAFE, ECONOMICAL AND CONVENIENT
A shortage of parking spaces, increasing traffic and expensive properties: Multi-storey and underground car parks are the contemporary answer. In terms of technology and design, however, they no longer have much to do with the gloomy multi-storey car parks of the past.
The requirements for possible uses have grown and have been laid down in state regulations. For many reasons, multi-storey and underground car parks therefore also require special doors. National and European standards and regulations contain special expectations with regard to safety, construction and function. For example, a multi-storey or underground car park must be sufficiently ventilated and at the same time ensure that unauthorised persons cannot gain access.
Planners, property managers and garage users place high demands on optimum efficiency, long-term functional reliability and the smoothest possible running of moving components, even at high frequencies. We describe the important criteria in detail on the following pages.
Requirements and solutions
Air circulation
REQUIREMENTS
The long-term use of underground and multi-storey car parks by vehicles entering and leaving has a negative impact on the technical equipment on doors and on air quality in general. Exhaust emissions are a source of danger that must be countered by means of structural features and technical
equipment. This also applies to individual car parks that are separated by their own doors. there are requirements and prescribed safety measures for all of these.
In particular, the ventilation options and the recommendations of the fire brigades in the event of a fire must be taken into account here. Relevant regulations can be found in the garage ordinances of the federal states or in the relevant ordinances in which these requirements have been integrated.

Security and burglar resistance
REQUIREMENTS
Access to and closure of collective garages, multi-storey car parks and underground car parks must be secured. The same applies to individual parking spaces that are subdivided within large car parks with separate gates. This involves protecting the parked cars as well as the surrounding living, working or basement areas.
However, the functional safety of the doors themselves and the safety of people handling them must also be guaranteed. In addition, sliding fire protection doors can also safely separate individual areas in larger collective garages.
SELECTED NOVOFERM SOLUTIONS

Multifunctionality and design
REQUIREMENTS
Multi-storey and underground car parks do not have to be planned and built without sacrificing design and functionality. With modern door and gate systems, equipment that fulfils both technical requirements and design demands is possible today. Today, it is also possible to realise a secure smoke barrier with an attractive appearance. And with commercial doors that fulfil all expectations in terms of sound insulation, fire protection or burglar resistance, concepts can be realised from a single source.

Escape route systems
REQUIREMENTS
In order to regulate access to multi-storey and underground car parks, an individually customised usage concept is important. In principle, doors should only be opened by authorised persons. If the group of authorised persons is clearly defined, a key or transponder solution with knob fitting from the outside to the inside can be helpful.
The properties can also be secured with automatic self-locking door locks in accordance with DIN EN 179 and panic door locks in accordance with the EN 1125 standard. Leaving an underground car park via specially marked escape and rescue routes must always be guaranteed in an emergency. For this reason, existing doors leading out of the building can only be mechanically secured against break-ins to a limited extent.
Unauthorised use of escape doors can also be made more difficult, e.g. by electronic systems with acoustic-optical warning devices.
SELECTED NOVOFERM SOLUTIONS
Multifunctional doors with anti-panic lock variants in accordance with DIN EN 179 and DIN EN 1125 with numerous fitting options |
Emergency exit systems (lever handle and panic lock) in accordance with DIN EN 179 or anti-panic locks (anti-panic bars and locks) in accordance with DIN EN 1125 can be integrated into doors |
Self-locking panic locks |
Anti-panic locks with single or multi-point locking - with various passage functions |
Push or touch bars to DIN EN 1125 for quick and safe exit from the building |

Economy and efficiency
REQUIREMENTS
Underground car parks and underground garage doors are often characterised by public use or at least a high volume of visitors. In offices and administration, residential complexes, sports facilities or shopping centres, low wear and low energy consumption is therefore essential when operating garage doors. garage doorsis of great importance.
Flexible programming and settings for peak times increase longevity and thus save time and money. The option of leaving doors open and only closing them in the event of a fire also reduces operating costs.
A second access via a wicket door is recommended so that a door does not have to be opened completely when people pass through.
SELECTED NOVOFERM SOLUTIONS
Collective garage entrance doors, usable at high frequencies, with a favourable 230 V connection and 24 V LED drive to open the door in 14 seconds; an automatic timer integrated into the control unit as standard enables programming to keep the door open until the end of rush hour at peak times. This reduces the load on the operator |
Large selection of safety equipment for collective garage entrance doors (light barriers, optical sensors, indicators) also work with 24 V LED technology |
Up-and-over garage doors with primer-coated, galvanised door leaves and galvanised block frames for high corrosion resistance |
Novomatic 823 S overhead operator for frequently operated doors in multi-storey and underground car parks with a tensile and compressive force of 1,000 N |
Operators for up-and-over car park doors with energy-efficient LED lighting (1.6 W) and low power consumption in standby mode (0.5 W) |
Fire-resistant sliding doors with free swing function, which allows the door to be moved to any position with light pressure - automatic closing in the event of fire |
