Novoferm standard corner frames with factory-fitted frame backfill
EasyFit makes the installation of fire doors easier, safer and more economical
Werth, January 2019. fire door can only guarantee its fire protection properties if the frames are installed professionally and in accordance with the relevant approvals. However, both the installation and the necessary backfilling of the frame are particularly time-consuming and error-prone manual tasks. With its innovative EasyFit system, Novoferm is the first and so far only supplier to equip standard corner frames with pre-assembled special foamers. This "fire protection ex works" makes installation faster, safer, cleaner and more economical. The frame backfill with expanding fire protection foam strips guarantees a fire resistance time of 30 minutes and is therefore the ideal solution for the single and double-leaf T30/ EI2 30 Premio doors from Novoferm.
The EasyFit system from Novoferm, one of Europe's leading system suppliers of doors, gates, frames and operators, makes the installation of fire-resistant doors in exposed brickwork and concrete much easier, for example in combination with rebate screw installation. However, the advantages of the new system are even greater in drywall construction, where time and speed are more important than ever. This is because the necessary backfilling of the frames causes high organisational and time expenditure and opens up various sources of error. The backfilling material must be procured in accordance with the approval and kept ready on site; the fitters must also allow for a considerable amount of time and work extremely carefully during the backfilling itself, because even the smallest errors can impair the fire protection properties of the door element.
The use of Novoferm EasyFit rules out any errors when backfilling the frame. The fitter does not have to take any special features into account; the frame is simply installed with the supplied fixing materials and the usual tolerances. For drywall construction, this means that the EasyFit system is ideal in combination with the 2-part 2140B surround frame and overhead door closer for steel stud walls with at least F30-A. Novoferm also supplies the complete installation set (screws, plugs, overhead door closer, self-adhesive plastic cover profile) for use with standard corner frames and rebate screw installation in exposed masonry and concrete. If a 2-part surrounding frame is required, this can also be supplied as an option.
These simple installations are possible because the frames are made "fire-resistant" at the factory. To do this, Novoferm inserts strips of a special intumescent fire protection material into the frame. From a temperature of 200 °C, the material expands, eventually reaching 10 to 40 times its original volume, and reliably seals the gap between the frame and the wall. EasyFit thus guarantees a 30-minute fire resistance time. The system is tested in accordance with EN 1634 and approved by the building authorities as T30-1 and T30-2 in accordance with DIN 4102. The NovoPorta Premio with EasyFit system is also optionally available classified as EI2 30-1 or EI2 30-2 on the basis of the European Technical Assessment ETA - 17/0443.
This means that EasyFit can be used for all T30/EI2 30 variants in the entire Premio size range, for single and double-leaf doors. This also applies to doors with additional functions such as smoke protection and sound insulation; and thanks to the simple installation of EasyFit, doors and frames that have been surface-coated in the RAL colour of your choice are not endangered by damage or soiling during frame backfilling on the construction site.
