Amazon Alexa and Google Home provide practical systems for networking and smart control of compatible devices. They can be controlled manually using the smartphone app or, if desired, by voice command thanks to the intelligent speaker - the so-called voice assistant.

You can find the Amazon Alexa app and the Google Home app free of charge in the App Store or on Google Play. You can buy the voice assistant online or from a specialist electrical retailer.

An existing SmartHome system is not a prerequisite for the app or voice control of your sectional garage door. All you need to do is set up the Novoferm plug-on or WiFi module, a standard router and, if necessary, the SmartHome control centre of the desired SmartHome system to control Novoferm sectional garage doors or operators via app or voice command. Anyone who is still considering making their home "smart" can take the first step with the garage door control system.

Once you have experienced the benefits of a SmartHome system, you will never want to do without it again. The increasing automation of the home provides more convenience and security in everyday life. And the garage is no exception. Sectional garage doors have never been so easy to operate:
Whether you are at work or on holiday - you can open and close your door conveniently with a finger movement or voice command. Do you have two Novoferm garage doors? All the better! The apps also allow you to control two different doors separately.

Sectional garage doors can always be controlled reliably and transparently using a smartphone, tablet or voice assistant. Users can also call up the door status, i.e. whether the door is open or closed, at any time and regardless of their location.

Activate the lighting on the operator, with or without door movement, simply via app. All Novoferm garage door openers are equipped with highly efficient LED lighting. This light source is 13 times brighter than conventional alternatives with the same wattage, consumes less power and is also characterised by a long service life.

Exhaust fumes and moisture affect the air quality in your garage. Regular ventilation provides a remedy here, ensures sufficient air circulation and prevents mould growth. The door can be conveniently set to the ventilation position via app/voice command, i.e. it opens by 10 cm and allows air exchange.

With the Amazon Alexa and Google Home systems, you can now operate your Novoferm sectional garage door even more conveniently using voice control. Even if you already have a SmartHome system from another provider, you can integrate Alexa or Google.

Anyone who chooses a Novoferm sectional garage door can easily integrate the door control with the new Novoferm WiFi module into the world's largest SmartHome systems "Amazon Alexa" and "Google Home".

Only the Novoferm WiFi module is required for integration.

You do not need a separate SmartHome centre or a gateway.
Intelligent operation is therefore not dependent on a local SmartHome system.

The Novoferm WiFi module for the smart control of garage doors can be easily retrofitted to all operators built in 2016 or later and is simply connected to the operator via a mini-USB. No additional hardware is required.

Novoferm garage doors thus simply become part of the Amazon Alexa or Google world.

Simply open and close Novoferm sectional garage doors via the Novoferm operator using the Amazon Alexa or Google app and their voice assistants ("Amazon Alexa", "Google Assistant", "Google Nest Hub"...) or query the door status.

With the ^Mediola® All-in-One solution, devices (heating thermostat, door/window contact ...) from a wide range of SmartHome manufacturers can be easily bundled in a SmartHome system, automated and operated with a ^Mediola® app.

The prerequisites for the smart control of Novoferm sectional garage doors via app or voice are a Novoferm operator (from year of manufacture 2016), the new Novoferm WiFi module and a light barrier that recognises obstacles and automatically interrupts the closing process.

A smart sectional garage door not only contributes to your convenience, but also to your security. You can integrate your garage door into your smart security and monitoring technology, depending on which components you have.

To deter burglars, you can specify that whenever the garage door is opened after 8 p.m., the exterior lighting switches on and the surveillance camera takes a photo.

Would you like your garage door to open automatically if the humidity in the garage gets too high?
Then set a corresponding ventilation scenario! Specify that the garage door automatically moves to the ventilation position when sensors report a corresponding humidity level.
If the door is not closed manually, it closes after 60 minutes at the latest. This prevents it from remaining open accidentally!

Once the door and operator have been installed by a qualified Novoferm sales partner, the smart garage door components can be installed.

In the home:
The SmartHome centre controls the communication between the individual SmartHome components. To do this, it must first be connected to the power supply and to the router via LAN cable. The internet connection is necessary so that the control centre can also be operated remotely.

Please follow the specific instructions of the respective manufacturer! The control centre must be initially configured in the apps of the SmartHome partners in accordance with the instructions so that the Novoferm sectional garage door can be operated.

In the garage:
To integrate the operator into the system, connect the plug-on or WiFi module to the mini-USB interface in the operator. You will find the connection point when you open the cover flap of the operator.

Once plugged in, the module automatically goes into "learning mode" for a limited period of time. The module must then be removed and plugged in again.

Note:
For Homematic IP, Delta Dore and ^mediola® this is step 2, for Amazon and Google the installation begins with the connection of the drive.

Start theHomematic IP, Delta Dore, ^mediola® app, assign the plug-on or WiFi module to the SmartHome centre and activate the "Teach in devices" option. The module is now displayed as a new device. With the cross-device SmartHome system from ^mediola® , you also have the option of integrating other compatible devices regardless of the manufacturer.

Alexa and Google:
Connect the WiFi module to your own WLAN, create a Novoferm account, add the WiFi module there and link it to the respective system. Once the operator has been learnt, it is assigned to different categories/rooms (outside, garage, etc.). This is necessary for operation and automation (lighting, alarm scenarios, etc.).
