Even with garage doors: safety first
EASY photoelectric sensor offers protection
Modern technology makes many moments of everyday life easier. This also applies to trivialities, such as the daily opening and closing of the garage door. Nowadays, the process is often motorised, thus eliminating the need to leave the car. There is also technology in the associated light barrier. The electronic-optical system recognises the interruption of an invisible light beam. Light barriers work reliably, recognising obstacles and people.
Growing need for safety
"People's need for safety is increasing. This applies to the individual need of every single person, but also to the normative need for safety with power-operated sectional doors. sectional doors", says André Weyer, Product Manager at Novoferm. The manufacturer's doors with operators are generally force-limited, i.e. the door leaf stops when it hits obstacles or people. A light barrier makes the door even safer - even if you are not looking.
Legal background
If the garage door is garage door is closed automatically after a certain period of time or without sight - for example by a hand-held transmitter from inside the house or the use of SmartHome systems - then a photocell is absolutely essential for personal protection. Novoferm has therefore launched a light barrier that is quick and easy to install (www.novoferm.de). The mounting position is already predefined thanks to the perforation in the frame. Recognition between the transmitter and receiver is automatic. "The EASY photoelectric sensor is completely pre-assembled, has a self-retaining design and is easy to install without the need for screws," says Weyer.
A quick stop is guaranteed
This technology is not only convenient, but also very safe: in the case of an electrically operated garage door, the closing process is stopped immediately and the door is moved back up a little to make it impossible to crush. This is because the main closing edge is the greatest source of danger with garage doors. A light barrier ensures that precisely this area is protected. This is particularly important if there are children playing, pets or objects under the door when it is closing: if there is an obstacle in the closing area of the door, the operator stops immediately - faster than a child on a bike can stop. The gate raises again immediately and the danger is averted.
