MORE COMFORT, LOWER HEATING COSTS

Don't forget the garage when insulating
More comfort, lower heating costs
Nowadays, the garage is often more than "just" a place to park your car: it is often used as a workshop, hobby room, storage room or even as a replacement for a cellar. In these cases, it is worth checking whether the room is insulated as part of the living space or should even be retrofitted with insulation - professional insulation saves heating energy and helps you feel comfortable. Even if the garage is home to a sensitive and valuable classic car, it makes sense to take a look at the heat balance. Things also get interesting if your own living space is located directly above the garage - if the rooms cool down from below due to a lack of insulation, this can disrupt the overall energy balance of the building.

Consider the overall energy balance of the house
Another consideration is whether the garage is directly connected to the house. The attached garage prevents the building wall and the living space behind it, to which it is attached, from cooling down. Garages that are integrated into the thermal building envelope of the house are subject to the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) of 2014 together with this house. The thermal transmittance values prescribed here apply to the roof, the façade including the doors and windows and also to the windows and doors of integrated garages. These are also available in an insulated version. Replacing a highly insulated garage door enables maximum energy efficiency and the best possible security.

Observe the equipment criteria of the garage door
"If the garage is integrated into the thermal building envelope, an insulated door makes a lot of sense," says André Weyer, Product Manager at Novoferm, www.novoferm.de. With a Premium Plus sectional door in particular, the combination of top quality, maximum convenience, maximum energy efficiency and the best possible security is therefore a major plus point. In addition, a particularly high level of thermal and sound insulation can be achieved. "Another popular feature of the iso 70-insulated doors is the smooth door operation thanks to ball-bearing tandem rollers for minimised door noise and the whisper-quiet garage door openers - these details ensure that the garage is upgraded as an additional room," explains Weyer.

The particularly high thermal and sound insulation is achieved by a total section thickness of 70 millimetres. Additional seals between the sections, a double floor seal and, on request, window variants and light openings with triple glazing round off the insulated garage as an attractive space.
