SAFETY DEVICES

Safety is very important when using sectional doors. That is why Novoferm offers mechanical and electronic safety devices that prevent the door from colliding with people, vehicles or obstacles and causing damage. We provide optimum safety systems that are certified by TÜV Nord and fulfil strict test requirements and standards. An optional anti-lift device is also available, which provides additional burglary protection.

SPRING BREAKAGE PROTECTION

The European standard EN 13241 requires that uncontrolled downward movement of sectional doors must be prevented. A manually operated sectional door therefore always needs a spring break safety device, which blocks the spring shaft in the event of spring breakage and thus prevents the door from falling. In the case of motorised sectional doors, a self-locking gearbox fulfils this function (therefore no spring break safety device is required here). However, if an operator with quick release is selected, a spring break safety device must be fitted.

ROPE BREAKAGE PROTECTION

The TÜV has stipulated that the breaking load of the two pull ropes must be six times the balanced door leaf weight. If the pull cables do not fulfil this requirement, a door is fitted with a cable break safety device as standard. In the event of a cable break, this safety device presses pawls against the frames and thus prevents uncontrolled downward movement. When installing a cable break safety device, 50 mm more space is required next to the track.

LIFTING

As a sectional door is suspended on moving cables, an unlocked door can be pushed up. The anti-lift device, a product specially designed for lightweight, electrically operated doors, prevents this.
Without an anti-lift device, the door is more at risk of burglary than others. When installing an anti-lift device, 50 mm more space is required next to the track.

SLIDE BOLT WITH MICROSWITCH

The push bolt locks into the track so that the door can no longer be opened and the microswitch deactivates the operator function.

This protects the door from external tampering.

ELECTRONIC GATE LOCKING SYSTEM EDL 100

For industrial sectional doors with the T100 control unit, the EDL 100 electronic door lock can also be used as an option.

This is fitted to the outside of the track and, when the lock is activated, a steel pin prevents the door from moving upwards.

SLACK ROPE SAFETY DEVICE

This safety device is fitted to both suspension cables.

It immediately de-energises the electric drive if one of the suspension cables breaks or sags.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND FLASHING BEACONS

To prevent injury to people and damage to the doors or goods, traffic lights and flashing beacons are fitted on the inside and outside of the door. Rotating flashing lights warn of danger. They start before the door moves. Traffic lights regulate through traffic. They prevent damage to the doors.

CLOSING EDGE PROTECTION, ACCIDENT PROTECTION CONTACT STRIP

The obstacle detection with transmitter and receiver is integrated into the rubber sealing profile of the door. If the signal transmission is interrupted by a person or an obstacle, the door stops and reverses. The maximum pressure in contact with the rubber profile is 40 kg. As an alternative, non-contact monitoring by means of a leading light barrier is available.

LEADING LIGHT BARRIER

With this option, obstacle detection takes place 8 cm before the main closing edge. If the bottom of the door approaches an obstacle, a signal is transmitted directly to the operator, the door movement is stopped and it is raised again. This safety device therefore works without touching people, goods or means of transport.

LIGHT GRID

The industrial sectional doors can also be fitted with an optional light grid. The light grid consists of a transmitter and receiver and is factory-fitted within the track system, which means that the wiring is not visible.

STATIONARY SAFETY LIGHT BARRIER

A safety light barrier is required for doors with impulse control where the user cannot see the door opening when operating the door.

Two versions are available:
A version with transmitter and reflector and a version with transmitter and receiver. In both systems, the transmitter is located on the track on the side of the control unit,
a reflector or receiver is located on the opposite track. If the beam is interrupted between the transmitter and the reflector/receiver, the drive receives a signal that stops it and reverses the movement.

The version with reflector is susceptible to interference from dust and moisture, whereas this is not a problem with the version with receiver.
